Yesterday during the morning hours, I felt that God was speaking to me about my country and my family. In particular, the Spirit spoke to me that things are going to get much worse in this country. My responsibility is to teach my family how to pray.
Our family has been having family devotions for years and years, so the concept of praying in our family is not new. But I believe that there is much more for my family to learn about prayer, especially in light of the Word I heard.
You see, in Ezekiel, God told the prophet that He was looking for a man to make up the hedge and stand in the gap for the land, but He could not find one. The thought occurred to me, if God was looking for just one, what could He do with a few?
Last night, we began by taking some baby ...

Recently, I have been teaching a scripture memorization class at my local church. In the process, I spent more time on using visual tools or cues to help memorize Bible passages. I wanted to share some of the pictures we have been using. These were all drawn “on the spot.” They aren’t perfect. They work for me. The reason I’m sharing them is to spur you on to either use them yourself or draw your own pictures.
The image gallery has the scripture references below each image when you view it. However, you may wish to print this basic overview for matching up the pictures with the verses. The people in this class wanted to memorize Romans 8. They chose the King James Version as they were more familiar with it and found it easier to memorize. You should use whatever translation is easiest for YOU to memorize.
One of the class ...

Do you ever feel that way? Most of us have — more than once. In fact, decision making is one of the toughest areas of life that we deal with, and rightly so because decisions can have long lasting consequences.

Here are some principles to help you when you are faced with tough decisions.

What does God’s Word say about it?Many times, people get stuck praying about something for days or weeks that is plainly spelled out in God’s Word. Don’t pray for direction asking whether or not you should GIVE as a Christian. Matthew 6 says, “WHEN you give,” which assumes that we will. Paul noted that the Lord loves a cheerful giver. Numerous other scriptures deal with the same ...

Today is National Day of Prayer in America, they are voting for a Prime Minister in Great Britain and I received an early morning phone call from a good friend. With plenty of sleep in my voice I answered the phone after checking the caller I.D. He had been praying for me this morning and wanted to tell me what God had told him for me. “No matter what happened, I was in a battle.” That was all, then with very little small talk, back off of the phone.

I knew that I was in a battle. I have been for months. If I were a continent, the national boundaries would have been drawn and redrawn so many times that there would be something akin to the Grand Canyon right down the middle of me.
Once you have come to know God through His Son Jesus, you will want to learn as much about Him as possible. The only way to please God is to know what He likes and what He doesn’t like. And the only way to know that is to learn about God’s character and essential being.

God is a Spirit
The first thing we want to focus on is that God is a spirit. (This is stated in the Gospel of John 4:24.) God’s nature, first and foremost, is not related to the physical realm. Just as the wind exists but is invisible to our natural eyes, so also God exists in invisibility. He is as real and as vital as the breath we depend upon, but He is as easy to overlook as air that surrounds us when there is no wind.
We are concerned primarily with ...
