Thank you for this. It helps when it’s too late in the day to go to a pastor with the question, “why does other people’s sin affect me?” We are relational beings. Without effects there wouldn’t be any learning.
I was blessed and encouraged as I read the story of the young woman who went to a silversmith to understand what a refiners fire. It is true we will all go through the fire at some point in our lives. Just like the three hebrew children shadrach, meschach and abendigo. But the comfort is knowing that we are not alone. that God is there with us. In the case of the silversmith, he is intently watching us, observing us, seeing what is truly in our hearts. It is at these times we can see truly what is in our own heart. He is purifying our hearts. When the process is complete he sees a reflection of himself. I think we can prolong the process of purification by our attitude. If we give God praise in the midst of the firey furnance, he helps us to endure the process while giving us peace in the midst of it.
Love it!! I will make an appointment for your chiropractor when you return. I hear he has installed a medieval rack for this purpose. Stay safe and God Bless!!
Wow. In case you are wondering, when I was in Mexico and faced with a similar challenge, I filled a plastic water bottle & left it in the sun. Then, with a hole poked in the top, I could spray myself off. Adding a bar of soap and a wash-cloth to the mix was the final thing. If you want to take a nice, comfortable shower, bring your wife next time. She will think of such things for you.
Yes like the above we use sun to help on cold shower in Ethiopia. That’s very common to do, so you need to come to some places in Ethiopia and try it more. For sure you will enjoy the weather 🙂
Great Scott!! What a ride! What did you do or say to Phil to make him want to drown you?!! I laughed and laughed! You are right on up there with Patrick MacManus!
Contact me using the “Contact” form and let me know a little bit more about where you are wanting to use the Meditations. I’ll be happy to work with you in any way I can to see the Meditations passed along to other people.
Dear Craig,
Hello. I am the editor of the Informer, a free quarterly publication of the Oklahoma Christian Home Educators Consociation. The Old Schoolhouse sent me a copy of your article, 52 Godly Men, and I must applaud you. I think this would be a great inspiration for our Oklahoma homeschooling families, and I would like permission to reprint the article. We will include a byline such as the one in TOS magazine with your link. We can also offer you a copy of the print magazine when it is published if you will send a mailing address. Thank you very much.
Grace and peace,
Kerri Bazzell, editor
Perhaps this should be shown on retail TV’s while folks are shopping for a good deal. Working in retail I see firsthand how people are caught up in the “religious” side of a commercial Christ-mas.
Awesome article. it definitely clarified some of my reflections on walking with God. Check out http://www.dailybibledeclarations.com for similar reflections. God bless your obedience.
Thank you so very much for this! I was recently divorced and thankfully have the children with me, am homeschooling, and working part time. I am always tired and still know that I’m not putting in as much as the proverbs 31 woman. Learning to not give into feelings has been a very slow and gradual lesson but it’s leaning towards victory by Gods grace. I really appreciate what you wrote. Thank you for your short insightful, helpful, Chrisr centered articles. God bless you!
Hi! Love this poem! We are having a Youth Conference this weekend and I would love to have one of our youth recite this poem on Sunday morning! I was checking to see if I need permission to do so?
This is so very well presented and so solid! So few Christians understand God’s law and purpose. As one studies the application of these principles across families, churches, communities and governments, the implications are limitless. Sin infects the whole. God grant that the church community would return to holiness and the fear of the Lord. God grant that Christians would return to the word of God. God grant us ears to hear and eyes to see. Lord, save us from our sins!

I’ve lost my strength in faith over the years… as I turn began to notice I need to try harder to regain the spirit… something this morning told me that I needed to read David and Goliath and to study it… so that I may know the facts and the names of all involved…..i believe god was giving me instructions on how to begin to rely and trust in the word..of the Bible….I’m glad I did… I pray that I can regain some the favor I once new as a young man…
I am greatly blessed by your messages. I am in the fiery furnace at this time and it is hot, but I know my God is with me and will see me through. His Word says ‘Never will I leave you, Never will i forsake you’. So I know that I will one day shine for my Jesus and He will see His face in me! So hold on all you who are also being refined. There are better times ahead. Just have the faith and trust our God no matter how hot it gets.
Craig, what a lovely reminder, I am one of those blessed people who have a business run by the best CEO ever – Our Father God.
I have many opportunities to just sit & thank him for His AMAZING Provision.
Currently, listening to wood pigeons cooing to each other, water running in my fountain & some other birds chattering away in a suburb of the city of Geelong Victoria Australia.
Have enjoyed your Meditations for many a year & frequently cut & paste them onto Facebook.
This article particularly caught my attention – thank you Craig.
I find Facebook an EXTRAORDINARY way of ministering to others worldwide.
May God continue to bless you, keep you safe & ALWAYS inspire to reach out to others in Jesus Mighty Name Amen

Such a great idea to encapsulate the ongoing effect of a hands on father. It is also impressive your 4 primary blessings were willing and fully capable of illustrating your point. Job well done!

Speaking of vocabulary words…Baré? What’s that? Is that like, “Hold my Baré, and watch this?” Nothing like a good cold Baré after a hard day’s work?

The mental pictures…I laughed. Long and loudly. Congrats on another hilarious article.
Better not be “beer.”
Loved your story, Craig! I’ve had similar experiences in India and Ethiopia, so I can empathize :-).

You spin a great yarn, Craig. Loved it!

I didn’t do anything. That is considered a tribal honor, to be given the fastest ride. 🙂

God Bless for continuing your race!
This child stole the show! “And a little child shall lead them.” (Isaiah 11:6).
She was worth the price of admission! Thank you all for providing this vignette in gentle fun.

Craig,
Thanks for the message at the conference in July.
I learned a lot at the conference!

What if the word was “you need to give Simon up” but you married him anyway ?

Sounds like you are blessed to be in a great spot to enjoy creation! Thank you for the encouragement.
This is a great article.
Are you from NYS??
NYS? New York State? Not sure what you mean by NYS?
I love all the posts
Nicely done, thanks for sharing this with us.
Hey Rodney/Carol. Thanks for the comment. God’s blessings on your health and ministry.
Craig, this is an outstanding skit. Reminded me of my Dad, although he has been in Heaven for many years. Thanks for sharing.
Glad to bring back a good memory.

Thanks. Not all the children in this video are mine. I’ll leave it to the viewers to sort that one out.
