The Bible is full of stark contrasts. In fact, God knows that this is one of the ways that we humans learn best. Try to describe the color white, and you might run into trouble. Put white opposite black, and you can clearly point out the differences. In this psalm, God wants us to understand clearly that there are big differences between those who delight themselves in His law and those who do not.
Think of all the blessings we have reviewed in this psalm: being planted by rivers of water, being fruitful in season, your leaf not withering and the ultimate blessing upon whatever you do. Pause. The ungodly are not so. How sad it must be to have the unenviable job of being an example of stark contrast to the righteous. “Look at Billy Joe over there! He doesn’t follow God. See how awful and messed up his life is?” But that is the condition of billions of people in this world. Their lives ARE indeed a stark contrast against what God really wants for them.
Be blessed. Live blessed. Enjoy the blessings. But be more than willing to tell others why you ARE blessed and how they can be blessed, too.
Be blessed with an opportunity to share the Gospel.
