Q. When is it best NOT to tell the truth? A. When it is best to not speak at all.
OK, it might have been a trick question, but it does bring out a point worth remembering. Sometimes, it is best to just be silent. You don’t have to always tell people when they are doing wrong. Or did you think that Jesus openly reproved every sin He ever saw committed while living here??? He hardly would have gotten a positive word in edgewise if that is all He had done.
No, there is a time to speak, and there is a time to hold your peace. Bite your tongue if need be. God knows that the more rebellious an individual heart or group of people are, the more likely they are to resort to violence against the truth. And while His followers have not been immune from persecution, God does not take a particular pleasure in His saints suffering violence even though it has happened many times. Wait until He gives the go ahead during such times. His wisdom is the best.
