Seven Reasons Jesus Wants You to Be Free

There are many, many people in our world who are bound by something.  That something could be bad memories, the past, addiction to substances or pornography, emotional baggage, fear, religious tradition, hurt/pain, despair, hopelessness, or plain old sin.  In any case, the truth is, Jesus wants you to be free.  Here are seven reasons why:
  1. He created you to be free.
  2. He shed His blood for you to live free.
  3. Freedom is a mark of following the truth.
  4. Living free brings honor to Him.
  5. Living free enables you to work for Him fully.
  6. To truly know Him, you have to be free.
  7. Living in freedom prepares you for heaven.

Freedom is not the ability to do anything you like within the bounds of a sinful nature.  Rather, it is the ability to live fully and freely outside the bounds of that nature in the vast expanse of the divine nature.

Additional thoughts:

Are you comfortable with your captivity?

  1. The man at the pool of Bethesda.  Jesus asked him, “Do you want to be made whole?”
  2. The man possessed of the legion (aka the demoniac of the Gadarenes).  He was drawn to death and the place of the dead.
  3. Lazarus.  It was not enough for him to be made alive.  Jesus said, “Loose him and let him go.”
