Hey Jim by Glyndon Ridgeway

Way back in the 1970s, Glyndon Ridgeway (pictured middle in photo) wrote a song to Jimmy Carter about his thoughts on Carter’s time as Governor of Georgia and then his first term as President of the United States.
If I get time, I may write the lyrics out, but the 45 rpm did end up being quite audible, and Glyndon had good diction. For those who remember the Jimmy Carter days, take a stroll down memory lane and listen to “Hey, Jim!” Here’s the first little bit of the lyrics:
A peanut farmer came to town one day.
He said, “I’m tired of working pitching hay.
It seems the people in this town, they all are having fun.
So I think for a public office I’ma gonna run.”
His try for office, it was a success.
But before he left it things were in a mess.
The people of his state then sent him back down to his farm
To pitching hay and picking nuts where he can’t do no harm.
